Eastney was a member of Warblington manor. Herbert son of Matthew received it with Warblington in 1231, and a grant of free warren in Portsea was obtained in 1239 (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 199-200).
Philip of Eastney exercised manorial rights from the late thirteenth century, and the manor descended through the Fitzwilliam family. It passed to Sir Anthony Browne, who died in 1548 (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 199-200).
Anthony Browne, Viscount Montagu, sold Eastney to George Cotton of Warblington in 1567, thereby reuniting it with the parent manor of Warblington (VCH Hampshire Vol. 3, pp. 199-200).
